Awesome for games like Civilization.

It'll be different on FPS, even like Portal, but we'll see how it goes. It may be more fluid and more usable than a standard stick controller.

I must say, the FPS game play looks much more controlled than any joystick based controller I've ever used. It still doesn't beat a mouse+keyboard, but is obviously superior to current controllers. They're doing interesting things with the track pads, especially with the dynamic configuration of the d-pads to be one-to-one, and blending the two together. Even for RTS, the game play can't be anywhere near as fast, but depending on the style of play that may not be a factor. I'm interested in platformer gameplay and seeing how it compares to a classic controller. Let's see some Super Meat Boy, or I wanna be the guy.

Or some fighting games, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, etc.

Somewhere there is a quote from the team that did Super Meat Boy of them saying that this controller works and feels great.
Steam will be releasing more videos like this in the coming future. I can't wait to see the touchscreen that's supposed to be in the center of the controller.
Also I want to see fighting games on this controller.
Nice Pants.

Overall, this seems pretty cool. Hopefully it helps bring games natively to linux. Guess it's time to try out and learn Debian.

Got one for Xmas. Haven't really got a chance to use it in game but used it a little on the desktop. Very interesting. I'll have to play some FPS and strategy games and see how it goes. The packaging was really slick too. The under side of the box sleeve shows a blown up controller will all it's parts exposed. Adds a little more coolness when watching the video above.

Played some Helldivers with the Steam Controller last night. That game is a good game to play for getting used to the Steam Controller. The controller still feels a little weird when holding it but after the 1-1.5 hours playing it was starting to get comfortable. The community configs is really what makes the Steam Controller amazing. You can change the controller on the fly while playing a game. Make the change press the Steam button and try it out. Don't like a certain part of the config, make the adjustments and keep playing. Really easy. Really liking both the game and the controller.

Jeff has been using his in helldivers. We play 2 player via the SteamLink box which seems to work really well (For Helldivers, anyway)!

Not yet. I've seen people play a complicated FPS like DayZ with this controller but I'm too scared to try. I'll assume that something like FO4 would be fine, mainly because it's console friendly. Might try Chiv...... might.
