Successor to Wing Commander. Space sim. Looks good! Blacktwin, Justler, OGLupin and I have all pre-ordered.

PC Only, persistent world, private servers, single player. Over $18 million pledged so far. There is a pre-alpha released, but it's basically a model viewer. But it looks DAMN GOOD

Squadron 42 is a single player campaign that takes place within the Star Citizen universe. It can be played off-line.

The trailer for the looks amazing too.

My dad got in on the kickstarter campaign. He showed me the hanger And the ship he got for it last time I was up. It looks neat except for the moment all you can do it roam around the hanger and get in your ship.

Yea, they are releasing some of the features in phases before full release. Hangar is out now and will be updated and the dog fighting portion will be released sometime in December.

This is actually the only kickstarter i've ever backed, although I did it directly through their website. I have to say it's the best experience I think there has probably ever been where the developer involves the community in the making of the game. Check out Wingman's Hangar on Youtube and some of the videos under RobertsSpaceInd channel.

What's the gameplay supposed to be like? Is the universe per-server (BF/COD), or continuous (MMO/Arma-ish)?

3rd person space
Both. There is an official persistent world, and you can also run private servers with or without mods

When watching their YouTube channel's Wingman's Hangar you see some gampeplay from user made videos in the FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF forum FFFFFFF feedback. Not sure if it's from in game from original backers of the kickstarter or what. They look awesome though. You'd have to watch though/

God damn, these videos and info coming out is amazing. I think the hype train may be off the tracks at this point. If they can pull it off though, this game looks great.

No, no gameplay yet. But there's model viewers, i.e. the official 'hangar module' which is released.
There is some from the trailers, which is said to be in-game rendering. But, no actual gameplay yet. That will mostly come from the dogfighting module when it's released "soon"
