...we've been discussing a number of ways to make Legendary items on the ground more visible to the player. We've considered adding a new special sound, for example, having the location of the drop ping on the player's mini-map, and creating a unique FX effect that would appear underneath the item before it's picked up.
It doesn't matter, 180 hours and I've only found 1 a long time ago, it was a lvl 15 item.

Yup, the interest in this game died off very quickly, and very sharply.
I still like the game, and I'll play it here and there, but I just wasn't feeling this game as much as I thought I might.

Think we all got it in our heads that it was a Blizzard product and should be outstanding in most every area...and it wasn't. Wasn't a bad game, just had goals that were a little out of reach.

I acknowledged that Diablo III needs to be a better game, which corresponds with previous statements we have said about the game not being where it needs to be in regards to a long-term sustainable end-game.

Coupled with the fact the lead designer quit (was fired or re-assigned more likely) I feel this is a positive for the Diablo games. I don't think Diablo was a horrible game, it just wasn't quite what everyone else expected. Still a fun game, as Hapkido Warrior can attest to. But, the recent events hopefully meant he expansion pack will be more in line with what players want.

Well see what direction they take it with the next few patches, maybe the man in charge was keeping the team from making changes they wanted as well.

Diablo has always been a farming game, but the way it is now, there is really only one act to farm out of the 4, and the returns are pretty shitty. Even when a legendary drops, it is trash. Out of the 170ish hours I have in the game, I only have 2 pieces of equipment that I found that were worth keeping. Sure you find stuff on your way to LVL60, but once there you never find a piece you can use. Hell, I haven't even found a piece I don't need worth something to sell/trade for what I could use.

When they added monster power in the last patch it was a nice change, but with my current build I'm capped at about monster power 3 unless I want to buy gold with real money to get upgrades on the Auction House, which I'm not going to do.

I would have liked it a lot more if I had my Diablo 2 esque necromancer back. I want to control armies of summoned minions, goddamnit. >:(

Edit: so I decided to try the eastern sun mod for D2. Here's a link: http://miyoshino.la.coocan.jp/eswiki/?Features" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Haven't installed it yet, just downloaded.

We're working out the details of how the auction house system will be shut down, but we wanted to share the news as soon as we made the decision in order to give everyone as much advance notice as possible. Please note that the shutdown will occur on March 18, 2014. We will keep everyone informed as we work through this process.
TLDR: Auction House shutdown March 18, 2014

I guess they sucked all the money they could out of micro transactions and AH fees.

New patch, new expansion on the horizon.

New patch brings "Loot 2.0" which means that most of the loot you get in game, will actually be for your class now. Getting Strength gear on a wizard will now be rare. Almost all rare gear is now 'Bind to account' and coupled with the fact that gold trading is disabled, you'll now have to get your own gear. Which is what Diablo has always been about, dungeon crawl to get yourself gear. Blizzard tried to turn it into a community game and failed. A MUCH needed change.

In one week, I've found a dozen legendary items and even 2 set pieces, that actually had stats for my class and were usable. I think I found MAYBE 2 legendaries in the whole time since release before the patch, and they weren't even for my class.

We've been playing this almost non stop over the last week. If you gave it a try and gave up, give it a try again. I know Justler, Hapkido, Ullom and I have been playing.
Plus there is +50% XP in game until March 24th, the release date of the expansion. You can level super fast. I went from 43 to 60 in one day.
So, reinstall it, patch it, and give it another shot.

Knowing there are people to play with perhaps I'll give it another shot.
