Hmmmm.

Console versions gave us the opportunity to do more things than we originally planned, such as DX11 and 64bit support to name only a few.
PC gamers will get all the benefits the console gamers get, for free.
It also guarantees that we must hit a particular performance target.
It's a win win scenario

Console versions gave us the opportunity to do more things than we originally planned, such as DX11 and 64bit support to name only a few.

So... 64 bit and DX11 aren't available unless you make a console game? BS on that point.

But he probably means "We got a huge kickback from Sony, so we can actually hire developers now to implement DX11 and 64-bit"

He mentions that no money was exchanged, that it is just evolution of the project. Linux and OS/2 are now possibilities. Also that this will cause them to meet certain quality standards that will ultimately help the PC version. PC version is be complete before they start the other projects.

So, he's saying that 64-bit and DX11 weren't possible before they announced the PS4 port. That doesn't make sense. He's implying that without the PS4 port, they wouldn't have 64-bit or DX11. It just doesn't make sense. I'm confused why he said that.

I"m sure it will help, and it'll be good for the game. I just don't get his DX11 and 64-bit comment

No, that's not what he is saying. If they ever wanted to support other platforms (consoles/linux/OS/2), which they did, they needed make the changes they've made. So by making it possible to support other platforms we get 64-bit servers and DX11 support for PC.

Here.
As an example, 64bit servers was a direct result of cross platform development. So far it has speed up some development areas. I see no reason fir it to slow down pc development now

Yeah. Probably just to make his point.
Nobody has paid us to undertake additional platforms. PS4 is simply th first one to announce. Not all platforms are console, other options include Linux and OS/2

It sounds to me like the lack of updates we had for awhile might have been for their alignment of making dayz possible on consoles.

False. The lull in development was due to bringing on more teams to work on specific features. They have added like 3 or 4 different companies around the world. There is an art team in Thailand and the animal/hunting team is in Germany somewhere or Ukraine.

The recent explosion in development is the result of these teams finally sync'd up. There has been updates to stable every 2-3 weeks for the last 2 months.
