Comcast

Unread post by kerovick » Thu Oct 09, 2014 2:09 pm

I have received an automated message from Comcast twice now saying that I need to upgrade my modem to a DOCSIS 3 compatible modem. Does anyone know if this is legit or are they just trying to sell me a new modem?

What is your maximum speed now?

DOCSIS 3 may enable faster speed for you.

If you don't have a docsis 3.0 modem, it is legit. Google the model number of your cable modem to find out if it is or not. Comcast is likely right. I upgraded mine and continued to receive calls for a little while.

This probably means that you can get up to 105 MBPS service now. See the other thread in here labeled - Xfinity 50megabit service.

Screw leasing equipment from Comcast, do it yourself. I picked up this one-

I bought this one for Gary, it works pretty well and has built-in G/N Wireless

29.92 down 6 up

I went ahead and ordered the newer version of the one Scott has.

I only pay for the performance package. I doubt I'll get any increase from it.

I picked up one as well. Working great. I hate that I have to deal with comcast now but it's a devil I'm willing to deal with for a decent connection.
