Sexy UI with lots of features. Just disconnected everything from Comcast. No speed lose, still at 35Mbps. Comcast guys I spoke to were actually great, laid back and not aggressive. Still testing the Wifi but seems to be pretty good. I speedtested from the furthest location in the house and it was at about ~10-5Mbps. I'll need to adjust the channel since I live in a Townhome Wifi signals are everywhere. I also started seeing a lot of "Xfinity" SSIDs..... lame. It's not coming from me though.

Quickly updated to the latest FW. Some reviews said that updates to settings were slow. This is somewhat true but not a big deal.

Switched the 2.4GHz and 5GHz into two seperate SSIDs. 5 is SUPER fast at the furthest location ~30Mbps. 2.4 is ~7-12Mbps. So because the Roku is on the top floor I'll leave the bands separate and connect to the 5GHz. Maybe have the 2.4GHz as a guest network since guests shouldn't need to be in the boudoir.

WOW tons of features! You can schedule when to enable Wifi and it's separated by week days and weekend days. Not something that I'd use but pretty cool. I'll have to play with the USB sharing and Asus ICloud.
Nice Pants.

There are two open source custom firmwares for the N56U.

Merlin sticks with WebUI but adds additional features and fixes. *edit: looks like it doesn't support the N56U only the N66U and AC variants.

Padavan sounds like it replaces everything for a new look with more features and fixes.

After about 2 weeks we lost connection to the internet. The wife says she fixed it but wasn't very detailed in her troubleshooting methods. So I'm not sure what she did or if the router is just flaky but now I will receive message pages when trying to access the router via the webUI. I cannot move forward. Last time it happened I had to power cycle the router.

I've also noticed that my speed has taken a ~10-7 mbps hit. So instead of ~32-35mbps I'm at ~23-25. This is after the incident. First I'll try a direct connect then I'll see what these custom firmwares can do.

Lol it was Comcast's fault. When we removed our TV and phone services they changed the internet plan to a slower one. Even though I specifically requested to keep the internet package the same. So after an hour of chat and phone conversations it was resolved.

Highlight of chat:

Adam_: Lets talk about my package. It needs to be bigger.
